Welcome
January 21st, 2008Welcome to the Chevrolet Pakistan blog. In this blog, we will aim to keep you in touch with our company, products, and market initiatives. We welcome this opportunity to share our perspective of the market and get you involved in the discussion.
We are one of the few corporate blogs in Pakistan, and the first corporate blog in the automotive sector. This is a testament to our spirit of innovation and introducing new ideas to the market. Since the day we re-launched Chevrolet in Pakistan in 2004, after a three decades absence from the market, we have aspired to build a different kind of car company. A company that puts customers at the center of what we do, and offers safer, more technologically advanced products in the market. We want Pakistani consumers to benefit from the same, modern cars that Chevrolet customers enjoy all over the world – in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and even the United States. We have worked hard to bring you good products and support, and will continue to build on that foundation to secure a strong place in the Pakistan market.
As we continue to build our web presence in Pakistan and build this blog, we want to encourage all our readers – customers, prospective customers, or anyone interested in Chevrolet Pakistan – to get involved. We’ll share our story with you as it unfolds, and you can help. Participate in our message boards. Give us feedback. Share your ideas with us. We are here to serve you, and you can help us by letting us know how we can improve.
In 2008 we have a lot of exciting plans. You’ll be the first to know about new initiatives, new products, and our future product plans. We’ll also blog about general industry developments, driving safety, and any other news relevant to today’s modern motorist. We might even ask for your input on future cars, and tell us if you would like to see them on the roads in Pakistan. We’re looking forward to embarking on this journey together – you and us.
Stay tuned…

Good to hear after a long time that Nexus and Chevrolet is back in the Market but one thing that teases me that after a very good success why their is a gap between Demand and Supply.
Other things must need to put ads only a little bit in the Electroince Media which will enhances its sale.
So do that love to hear and see again the Psoperity of the Frim because its the Prosperity of the Country.
So dont ROLL Back just Move Ahead.

I am driving chevrolet joy since July 2007 and I have driven almost 8000 km. Car is good as compare to cultus and santro in term of true value on maoney and service but this car is not good to drive on CNG
February 1st, 2008 at 8:49 pm
I have got the Joy in Jan 2007 and its doing good mashaAllah.
I was trying to access nexus site but found this site instead. Does this mean nexus is Chevrolet Pakistan now?
Please keep this blog lively with latest updates on Chevy’s progress in Pakistan. Also, please provide tips and guidelines for Chevy-owners in Pakistan.

Great to see this module. Own an exclusive. Superb car in it’s class. Excited to see chevy bringing in more models. Hoping chevy will expand its local production to trucks and suv’s that can be offered at competitive prices.
Best of Luck. Cheers.

Welcome to Pakistan, Chevrolet!. I hope the increased competition can result in better products and lower prices for Pakistani customers.
February 21st, 2008 at 1:49 pm
Its great to see the line of products that chevrolet has offered. I think usage of the media and proper marketing can propel chevrolet’s products in pakistan to new heights. The cars which they are making are very good compared to santro, cultus, alto etc. the only thing is that people are not aware of it. So with better marketing, chevrolet can become an excellent brand in pakistan.
February 28th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Its great to see tht gm is investing in pakistan after a three decades, well they’ve to do a proper marketing in order to compete other cars like suzuki and etc. and the price of a car is also a very important factor in pakistan, so i hope they will going to sell their cars in cheap price and also offers cheap parts of a car in market.

I am a suzuki, Nissan & Toyota user, few days before have driven Optra & Exclusive 800cc i found these vehicals excellant in driving, comfort & braking, especilly Optra, but my few suggesion for Optra is little bit slower than civic, should be avail in 1.8 also 2nd its too expensive, it take time for favourable so that cause price sud b lower, also for Avio its engine 1.4 is is not DOHC (like many others) and price is also too high as compare to Honda City e.t.c Joy’s CNG cylender capacity(40 ltrs) is very low compare than Alto or Cuore Shud be in at least 50 ltrs,(please take my sugg seriously for good markiting cause there’s many companies are flopp like Proton & incl China’s Chery)
My last words are that please advertise your vehicals in news paper frequently like suzuki,Honda or others cause here peoples are very confident about car’s personality, resale value for money and popularity.

Hello Folks welcome tot he World of Chevorlet. It is very good car and also having some problems as well but nothing is perfect in this world i wanna share some tips and tricks for the car so u guys can make sure ur car is safety and more confortable with good Engine. most of is i m an engineer so i hope u guys will accept my ideias.
while transmission on car dont give more RPM in 1st and 2nd gear while on third gear u can go on 80km with no hasseles but do care for first two gears. Dont use this car at CNG level this car has potential of low gas and high performance portfolio… but if u have no choice then gas so i most recommend to drive this car each week on petrol and at 120kmph with 5 transmision so that Engine main distributore most be cleaned. avoid A.C in 1st and 2nd gear. on the mobile oil side use Caltex havoline formula 10-30W Engine oil and change it on 3000km in summr and 4000 in winnters.
I hope u guys will appriciate my work i m based in peshawar so anyone wants more info he she can meet and let me check there car performance with a cup of tea.
bye

Salam,
well appreciated this blog.
I like Chevy JOY al lot due to value for money it offer. Just have one concern that this car has very low ground clearance and if you consider most of roads outside main cities (even some in main cities), you need more ground clearance. I suggest nexus to increase ground clearance to 170mm like it is for indian model, believe me it will help increasing popularity of car.
Good Luck
April 28th, 2008 at 5:05 pm
hey i m a huge fan of chevy optra… if only the spares were cheaper this would have been the most popular car…
June 1st, 2008 at 8:19 am
chevy cars are awesome! dey hav been fabulous worldwide n now dey ready to hit roads in pakistan.
joy is much better as compared to other small cars in d market. but people dont realize it cos dey just see d cars market value. i think chevrolet should advertise in a good way to get peple more aware of their qualities
June 23rd, 2008 at 11:18 am
Chevy Joy owners, would you in your honest advise recommend this car to new buyers? I own a Cuore and i hate it like anything.

You people @ nexus are selling Daewoo Models by the name of Chevrolet in Pakistan!
July 5th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Hi again all Chevy lovers. I am back again to give more info on the car. Thanks to the folks who called me several times for the portfolio and car performance. thanks for your trust. i would like to answer MR. Iftikhar question about making more for the ground clearance.. well if chevy do this fo rPakistani roads well i suppose u have more accedents for Chevy as the Suzuki Alto has the same problem 170mm will decrease the efficiency for the ground Tark which can result overlaping or low brake performace. Saying for Duke for the diesel in Joy are u not fade up of Chrade Diesel lolz. I inspect one Joy today at market with CNG fitted the customer has complain for the gaskit well i suggest all to maintain car Air filter each after 3000 for original and 2500 for local made. Dont use other than Hankook Centum tyres as they increase the grip incredebaly. Dont use Dunlop Sp 490 they consume more gasoline or gas and also Harms the engine performace as at Gas. Hpoe all info works and i wish the company should consider to have an Ride with me. Have Fun.

nice car.. why not give it alloy rims like its copy the chery qq does. the picture in the website shows the car to have cool alloy rims but alas we only get wheelcaps with the car.

Assalaam-o-alaiykum everyone…
It seems that everyone is happy with chevy, but the cars i`ve seen in Paksitan r just a piece of crap in look, in luxury, in features and all. One more thing, why people don`t promote Pakistan made cars? everyone is crying for prices going high, but no one is thinking whats the reason, its not that hard to figure out, if we keep on preffering imported stuff and imported goods from different countries, who is making money? ofcourse we are loosing, we have no right to comment on prices going high, because we are contributing in that. So please try to prefer Pakistan made stuff and promote pakistan industry which will ensure stronger Pakistan and strong economy of Paksitan. Someone have to take step, and that someone can be us, if we keep on thinking someone comes from somewhere then nothing will change, keep on getting worse and worse, whats wrong in being someone. Be Pakistani, Buy Pakistani, n be proud to be Pakistani, it will be hard in start but path to success is always hard. Proud to be Pakistani and buy Pakistani brands and encourage others to buy Pakistan made brands too. It seems a little but infact is a great contribution towards stronger Pakistan.May Pakistan live long INSHALLAH…
July 25th, 2008 at 2:10 pm
Dear All. well its good to see CHEVRLET back in pak. guys i whouls say that we should go for higer cars like ( LUMINA LTZ, S OR SS) OR other opption is ( CAPRESS ). i have botjh of them and they really are the best CHEVY have.
well regarding the AIVO if you buy it somehow change the tyres and Rinzs. use 16 R is the best you will ever experiance.
thats the only thing with is important for this car rest is cool.
thanks & regards,

It is good to see the chevy in pakistan . i feel that pricing of products is not like chevrolet , that is one of the reason the company is unable to reach the mass level and get the attention of people.
July 28th, 2008 at 1:46 pm
salam all
well i think joy is a nice small car for pakistani roads.. but that would be great feature if it has customized CNG cylinders like santro …
i think that type of kit is not available in market as well
good luck chevy

October 1st, 2008 at 6:14 pm
I have recently purchased chevrolet joy cng 2008 and have a few questions.
My car is doing 87km on motorway on one filling of factory fitted CNG cylinder. i think its of 35L capacity.
Is this mileage ok?
Can i install a cylinder with bigger capacity? as 87km is not enough on motorway as then i have to stop virtually at every service area…!!!
What should normally be its mileage on petrol?
October 8th, 2008 at 4:25 am
Assalamu Alaikum,
I am planning to purchase a chevrolet joy for my self, but am still confused whether to purchase it or not comparing it with other cars in similar category like Alto, Cultus etc.
I would like to know about its overall performance both on petrol and CNG with the comparison of other cars mentioned above , specially people are very much frightening me about its resale value, prices and availability of parts and also about its performance in the long run.
I would appreciate if anyone using this car or one who has authentic knowledge about this car give me an honest advise. Specially Mr. Technical (Irfan from Peshawar)
Thanx,

cHEVROLET GRAET HISTORY WILL MAKE THIS BRAND A GREAT SUCCESS IN FUTURE AS WELL. KEEP THE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCES AS YOUR KEY DIFFERENTIATING MARKETING STRATEGY. ALL CARS THAT YOU SELL ARE GREAT VALUE FOR MONEY AND WE KNOW THAT THE NEXT GEN CARS OF GM ARE GOING TO BE SEGMENT LEADERS. YOUR TEAM DESERVES CREDIT FOR ESTABLISHING A VERY PROFESSIONAL WEBSITE.
October 18th, 2008 at 9:29 am
I am also planning to purchase a chevrolet joy in a week or two. I test drove the car on cng and it was running fine. I prevoiusly owned a santro for about 2 years and comparing the two i feel that joy has more grip and strong body then santro.
Apart from that some people in this blog said that joy doesnt runs smooth on cng and has little ground clearence. If some one else could inform me about the aggrovity of these problems so i can make a better informed decision
Thx
Omer
October 25th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
i have driven chevrolet joy.it is the best
car as far as pick and performance is
concerned, but the only problem with it is
the very low ground clearance, which is 160
mm.it can be driven very good
on motorways and flat tracks but on pakistan pakistani roads it is a complete failure.
the minimum ground clearance for pakistani pakistani roads should be 180mm atleast.
i can`t believe what nexus is really doing
they have recently introduced spark 800cc
which has ground clearance of 155mm
which is 5mm lower than joy.moreover,
my father once went to the chevrolet
dealer for cleaning the air filter and the
chevrolet joy authorised dealer
charged him rs 500 for just blowing the
dust which is outrageous.
October 31st, 2008 at 6:35 am
I have been using the Joy for 2 years now and it is truly a wonderful car! On CNG it performs much better than Suzuki cars and the pick is amazing! I have taken my car over 140km/h while driving to Hyderabad on CNG with the AC! The best thing is it has rear seatbelts which no one else offers and I can hook up my 1 yr old son’s car seat easily. For the price I think it is the best buy.

November 6th, 2008 at 6:53 am
I have just bought a chevy LS 2005 on petrol. I want to install CNG on it but have heard that CNG does not work good in chevy. Can any one confirm if this is because the Efi system and can be fixed by some CNG experts or the problem is because of the car technical specification. I would appriciate if someone can recommend any expert EFI CNG installer in Karachi.
November 6th, 2008 at 7:49 am
I have been using Optra for the past 2 years. The performance is superb. I believe it is better than a lot of other cars available in Pakistan. The seat contours are designed to suite your body posture and the lumber support adds to your comfort level. While taking it out for a long spin your body does not feel the fatigue. Three of my most favorite options are the cool box in the glove compartment and the extra power switch in the car to charge my cell phone and lastly the ipod connector.
I think Chevrolet rocks and that it is the greatest car available in Pakistan in the same category vehicles.
Good work Chevrolet team!
I wish you all the success.
November 20th, 2008 at 3:30 pm
I agree with JJ. I am also using Optra from 2007, Its value for money. I is better the any car locally marketed in Pakistan.
I will advice others that they do try chevy optra
For Arshad Jamal:
For manual transmission no problem with CNG. for auto use LAMDA with CNG kit.
I am still enjoying Optra LS Auto on patrol, no CNG at all.
November 21st, 2008 at 11:27 am
Hi All,
I want to buy joy CNG. But Cant decide between Santro and Joy. Please help me if anyone can. Please give me good reasons why to buy a chevy joy. Thnx.
November 24th, 2008 at 12:58 pm
I am deciding between Santro GV and Joy CNG. On most attributes I like Joy, specially the price and features.
but I see some people talking about CNG issues… can any experienced user please clear things… does Joy do well on CNG?
Any other issues with Joy?
Thanks!
November 27th, 2008 at 7:13 pm
Thanks Ahmed for your nice comments. I have seen comments about the CNG on Pakwheels.com
People say that it do 90 to 120 km in a full cylinder. Also they run it upto a speed of 140 Km/h on CNG. I think that is sufficient.
Thanks
December 1st, 2008 at 6:44 pm
I am also planning to buy Joy, but I am a bit confused.
Does it perform well on CNG, like Suzukis do?
Is the CNG tank factory fitted, or is it fitted later at workshop?
Are all spare parts like Axles, Clutch plates, Gear box etc. available at dealerships?
I am not concerned at ground clearance as it can be increased by using slightly bigger tyres.
Thanks.
December 2nd, 2008 at 5:56 am
The car performs better than competitor on CNG, as the kit has been specifically been designed for the vehicle.
The CNG tank is factory fitted.
All spare parts are available. You may find a list of 3S dealership on our website. The company maintains a huge parts warehouse for backup support.
The ground clearance can be increased by using bigger tires but we would not recommend this as it would affect road grip and handling.
Chevrolet Team!
December 4th, 2008 at 7:55 am
Thanks alot chevrolet for such a great innovation. No doubt it is much better than the Pakistani competitive cars of same cc. Can we change the Rim with the radial ones? I have seen the picture of joy on chevrolet website and it looks cool with the radial rims. Also is there any need to change the tires. Are the tires Korean made?
Regards
December 11th, 2008 at 7:08 am
May Allah succeed the Chevrolet team and the product for prosperity of country.
Best regards
December 15th, 2008 at 4:49 pm
I will suggests those who wants to buy chevy any model that they can compare the features with any other make/model available in same category in Pakistan.
I am sure that they will find Chevy a superior car than any available car in the same category/power.
Sorry to say that this not valid for those who buy cars just for resale, and not for luxury, comfort and safety.
So people who are looking for luxury, comfort and safety chevy is the one to buy.
January 8th, 2009 at 5:02 pm
Its a luxarious and excellent car with excellent service from chevrolet dealer. I will give 9.5/10. As compared to its counterparts like suzuki, hyundai and toyota its a wonderful and much better experience.
January 12th, 2009 at 7:58 pm
Hi,
The MIL indicator illuminates two times at two different drives. The period of the indicator was between one and two minutes. Is there any need to worry about? Please suggest.

Spark will be local in future? if local, then will it be 1000cc?
What will be the difference b/w spark and joy?
February 10th, 2009 at 1:11 pm
i want to buy joy, visited dealer today. There is confusion over CNG usage as commented above.
What is running & maint. cost as compared to santro & cultus.Spare parts availability.Which color most suits joy.
February 10th, 2009 at 3:36 pm
ive seen spark at a local dealer…Spark is 800cc hatchback.. price around Rs. 850k for autotransmission & 750k manual..looks more spacious than joy…
February 10th, 2009 at 4:38 pm
Hi
I appreciate nexus automotive`s effort into offering blogging, one thing that would be even more helpful would be the publishing their price list for chevy spares which of course should be duly updated so that the customers may know exactly how much they are overcharged by some of the so called authorized 2s and 3s workshops
February 10th, 2009 at 10:49 pm
Hiz chevrolet team,
can u give a parts price comparison with Santro and Coure etc,
i need it,and i think the parts information is motivated us to buy chevrolet cars,
February 16th, 2009 at 9:38 am
optra is good car its drive is also very good safety levels are better but resale value is not better i think its worls’s best brand n soon it will establish its market here in pakistan
February 18th, 2009 at 10:44 am
Are prices on website not updated? Why Spark which is 800 cc much expensive then Joy 1000cc ??
February 18th, 2009 at 11:05 am
Prices on Chevrolet website is updated regularly. Price difference between Joy and Spark is because Joy is local assembled vehicle whereas Spark is imported.
February 27th, 2009 at 8:43 am
HI, CHEVROLET Team,
I am planning to buy Oprta 1.6 A/T and need to know the answers of the following
a) Does the automatic gear Box is CVT based or it’s just an Automatic gearbox with fixed gear ratios. Example it is am doing 120km/h then like other manual gearboxes the RPM will be 3500 or the CVT technology is allowing the car to maintain that speed at a lower RPM like 3000?
b) What is the average consumption of the car with A/C in city? For Gasoline engine.
c) What is the possibility of getting the car in Charcoal Grey / Graphite Grey color? I am not talking about the silver color here.
d) What is the average life of the engine if it is well maintained? I just need a ball park figure.
e) Is there one Engine cooling fan for engine cooling and A/C condenser or there is a dedicated fan for both the elements of the engine?
f) Do you recommend that this car can be kept for 7 – 8 years and still able to enjoy the car even after that much time?
g) What is the maintenance cost of the climate control system and what is the maintenance expertise for that in Islamabad region?
March 3rd, 2009 at 12:40 pm
Mr. Tahir Masood.
We are delighted to inform you of our Chevrolet Optra and assure you wont regret buying one for your use.
1. Optra has smart electronically controlled automatic-transaxle. (Fuzzy Logic control) its way advanced from CVT system. The Fuzzy Logic is a kind of software which is programmed to asses driving conditions and decide which is the proper shifting mode for that condition real time. It changes the shifting accordingly.
2. The average fuel consumption totally depends on driving habits and road conditions. We have recorded several Optra vehicles with auto transaxles in Islamabad ranging from 9km to even 14km per liter.
3. A shade know as Pewter similar to graphite grey can be available on demand.
4. We have readings of 1,87,000km and still no complain and also since Jan 2005 practical figure of 8 engines of Optra had problems out of 800 vehicles and we are not sure if these were maintained properly.
5. There are Dual cooling fans in Chevrolet Optra with Auto-transaxle.
6. Info from our valued customers, they do not want to sell their Chevrolet vehicles reason being, low in maintenance and trouble free vehicle is hard to get.
7. Till date no major complaints of any problem in climate control system are reported.
Feel free to contact us, for further queries.
Chevrolet Team !

Joy is still the best bet in mini cars in pk
March 30th, 2009 at 2:01 pm
Chevrolet is a good car but I am not satisfied with one of the 3S service center in Karachi. You guys should keep check on your partners because they are directly dealing with customers and dissatisfaction travels like wild fire

SAllam to all
@Chevrolet Team
i have plan to buy Spark,
I am looking for colour in spark is electric yellow
Kindly send me 2 or 3 pictures of this colour so i confirm it thanks
Waiting for email
Thanks

Chevrolet Spark does have 2 Years/50,000 Km warranty which ever comes first. These vehicles do need proper service by Chevrolet trained technicians and if you do not use proper services then there is a chance that vehicle will not get professional care. Benefits of warranty is that if the vehicle develops some mechanical problem or there is a manufacturing fault then it is covered in warranty. Warranty is void if there is any alteration made to the vehicle (after market). The repair cost at the end of the day of a authorized dealer is less than the roadside mechanic.
Chevrolet Sales Team.
May 6th, 2009 at 11:47 am
chevrolet pakistan has no dealer for its car in faisalabad. ..it seems quite strange to me… faisalabad is the 3rd largest city of pakistan.. it has strong business community and people have better purchasing power compared to other cities of pakistan…hope to see a dealership in near future…
May 25th, 2009 at 4:35 pm
I agree with Kashif & Fahad that approach to 3S/after sales service is weak area of Chevy. There no 3S in Multan too. Only sales of chevy is open & no after sales service available. If the company team recommends to go for only company trained technicians, than why they not provide after sales service in Multan.
June 4th, 2009 at 6:48 am
I bought my Chevrolet Joy about three weeks ago. mashaAllah its a very good car. I’m glad I bought it. The only thing which bothers me is the CNG cylinder size. I think 40 is a very small size for a 1000 cc car. With an average daily running of about 50-60 km, I have to get the cylinder filled every second day. This problem can be resolved if there’s a bigger cylinder. Having a bigger cylinder would certainly make life easier.
June 16th, 2009 at 4:44 am
Car prices of both Pak Suzuki & Toyota Indus motors have been reduced after the 5% reudction of CED in Federal Bugdet so kindly confirm that will there be any reduction in prices of Chevrolet motors also, especially in the price of JOY.
June 16th, 2009 at 5:56 am
Nexus has not yet finalized when price will be changed. When you
mention Alto then except for 1000cc engine (Joy comes with MPFI) there is no
comparison with Joy. You mentioned Cultus VXR, again VXR does not have the
power option like Joy (power steering, central locking, power windows and
mirror). If you compare the price then VXL will be more appropriate. You
should look for the value for money, what you get for the price.
The Chevrolet Team!
June 18th, 2009 at 9:01 am
Thansk for the explanation and I totally agree that JOY is far superior car than its all competitor cars in 1,000 CC category but at the same time when car prices have been reduced by all auto companies of Pakistan (Suzuki & Toyota were the first one and now Honda & Hyundai also reduced prices) due to the abolishment of 5% CED by the Govt. so Nexus mototrs are the only Company lest to follow the suit and it should also react quicky by passing on this effect to the customers to gain more market share and increase the sales volume, otherwise it wil be very difficult to compete with the already establisehd auto companies.
Also in the curent economic situation one can’t sell a product just on the basis of its superior quality and all the 4 P’s should be kept in mind for the sale.
June 28th, 2009 at 12:41 pm
Hi all.
I had a Chevy Optra 2005, loved to drive that car unfortunately in Dec 2008 I been through a BAD road accident, I hit a 22 wheel trailer on 160 Km/hr, Thank God that was Optra which save me, On 160 km/hr straight hit it got only exterior damage nothing happen happened to interior, we were four in it that time thank God nothing serious happened to anybody.
Thanks it was not Honda Civic or Toyota GLI.
Car went total lose because main frame went damage.
I just love Optra, I bought new Optra LT in few weeks time after my accident and start enjoying the ride AGAIN.

Hi all,
I went to Chevrolet’s Islamabad service center. There was a problem of Check light. They gave an excellent service and charged me just 300 for scanner. I am very happy with the service i got from Chevrolet dealer in Islamabad.
